For Parents and Guardians

You are not alone. The Project Patch Residential Treatment Program has assisted hundreds of parents of troubled youth, with outstanding results.  Parents in a Boise State University study rated significant improvement for every desirable behavior after their child completed the PATCH program.

To help you decide what resources would best help your teenager, take our pre-screen survey.

Crisis behaviors frequently treated with great success at Project Patch:

  • Rebelliousness
  • Oppositional defiance
  • Authority issues
  • Anger control problems
  • Low self-esteem
  • Poor decision-making skills
  • Thinking errors*
  • Poor peer choices
  • ADHD
  • Petty theft or shoplifting
  • Minor runaway

*such as blaming, or rationalization to manipulate those around them to avoid taking responsibility for their actions

The Project Patch treatment program is NOT appropriate for teens who are:

  • Addicted to drugs or alcohol (Patch recommends a 21-day program; after treatment teens may be candidates for Patch)
  • Actively suicidal (Patch recommends that you consider placing your teen in a local hospital if they are an immediate risk to themselves)
  • A severe runaway risk (the Project Patch ranch is not a secured facility)
  • Experiencing compounding mental health issues (psychotic, personality disorders, manic-depressive, or unstable bi-polar)
  • Sex offenders (Patch may be able to take a child who has been a victim of sexual crime)
  • Fire starters
  • Experiencing severe eating disorders
  • Pregnant

If your child has one or more of these problems, visit our Resources page for other options.

We welcome and encourage your questions.  Contact the youth ranch admissions coordinator for more information on any of the above topics.
